Annotations: Add Clarity to Your Workflows

Add annotations to workflows to document logic, explain decisions, and improve collaboration directly on the workflow canvas.

Updated over a week ago

Annotations let you add notes, explanations, and contextual guidance directly on the workflow canvas to help document logic, clarify steps, and improve collaboration and maintenance. Annotations are especially useful when building complex workflows or working with others, as they make intent and reasoning explicit without cluttering the workflow with additional steps.

How to use

  1. Open the workflow canvas: Navigate to the workflow where you want to add a note or explanation.

  2. Add an annotation: Right-click anywhere on the canvas and select Add Annotation.

  3. Enter the annotation content: Type your text in the annotation box. Use it to explain what a section does, why certain logic exists, or any assumptions or dependencies.

  4. Use the editor toolbar to format and enrich the content:

    • Add headings and styled text

    • Insert tables, images, videos, or links

    • Adjust paragraphs as needed

    • Undo or redo changes while editing

  5. Position the annotation: Drag the annotation to place it near the relevant steps or section of the workflow.

  6. Pin the annotation to a step (optional): Click the Pin icon to attach the annotation to a specific step so it moves with the step.

  7. Edit or delete an annotation:

    • Click the Edit icon to modify the annotation content.

    • Click the Delete icon to remove the annotation if it’s no longer needed.

Annotations are saved automatically and are visible to anyone with access to the workflow.
