Deactivate a Torq Workspace Automatically

Learn how to deactivate a Torq workspace to suspend operations with the option to reactivate when needed.

Updated over a week ago

Deactivate a workspace to take it completely offline but retain the option to reactivate with all data. This allows quick and secure control over your organization's workspace resources and the ability to unilaterally cease workspace operations without completely deleting the workspace and losing all workflows and other information.

When you wish to reactivate a deactivated workspace, you must reconfigure some resources.

Enable automated workspace deactivation for your organization by contacting Torq support. Once enabled, users with the Owner role (the relevant scope is organizations.write) can deactivate workspaces.

Before You Start

Here's a checklist of important information before deactivating a workspace.

  • The Torq integration used to run the Deactivate a workspace step must have an API key generated by a user with the Owner role (the relevant scope is organizations.write).

  • Full deactivation can take up to an hour, but the following workspace features will be deactivated immediately:

    • The workspace will no longer be accessible in Torq.

    • All workflows will be disabled (executions in progress are stopped).

    • OAuth integrations will stop refreshing.

    • API keys will be revoked.

    • Shared resources will be revoked.

  • To reactivate a workspace, contact Torq support.

    • The reactivation process can take about an hour to complete.

    • After reactivation, all triggers remain disabled and must be manually restarted.

    • OAuth integrations will need to be reconfigured.

    • API keys will need to be reissued.

    • Resources shared with other workspaces will need to be shared again.

How to Deactivate a Workspace

  1. Generate a Torq API key. You can skip this step if you already have an API key created with the Owner role.

  2. Use the Client ID and Client secret you copied to create a Torq integration.

  3. Use the Deactivate a workspace step.

    1. Add the Deactivate a workspace step to your workflow.

    2. Enter the workspace ID of the workspace you wish to deactivate.

    3. Use the Torq integration you created earlier.
