Slack Custom App

Integrate Custom Slack Apps with Torq to build workflows with Slack messages.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Slack Apps can come from Slack Marketplace or be built to your organization's specifications.

Torq enables quick and easy integration with Slack Apps, so you can automate anything and everything within moments. Torq's public Slack Custom App steps include:

  • Add Reaction

  • Delete Message

  • Get Channel

  • Invite Users to Channel

  • +24 more...

If you don't see a step you need, you can create your own in various ways, such as using the Send an HTTP Request step or Torq’s Step Builder, and share it across your organization.

To use Custom Slack App steps in Torq workflows, look here.

To use the prebuilt Torq Slack bot, follow these instructions. To create your own, follow below.

Use Slack Custom App Steps in Torq

Step One: Create a Slack App

  1. Go to Your Apps: Go to your Slack Apps > Create New App > From Scratch and enter an app name, such as Torq Custom.

  2. Select Workspace: Select the workspace where you'll be using your app.

  3. Create App: Click Create.

  4. Request Scopes: Under OAuth & Permissions, go to Scopes > Bot Token Scopes > Add an OAuth Scope.

    1. Add the desired scopes, such as chat:write to send messages or channels:read to read public channels.

  5. Install: Go to Settings > Install App and click Install to Workspace > Allow.

  6. Copy Token: Once the app is successfully installed, a Bot User OAuth Token will be generated. Copy this token for later use in Torq.

Step Two: Create a Custom Slack App Steps Integration in Torq

  1. Navigate to the Integration: Go to Build > Integrations > Steps > Custom Slack App and click Add Instance.

  2. Fill in the Details: Give the integration a unique and meaningful name.

    1. Under Slack Bot Token, paste the token you copied earlier.

  3. Finalize: Click Add.
