Test Pads: Experiment With Workflow Steps

Add a test pad to the workflow canvas to brainstorm and experiment with steps without impacting the main workflow.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Test pads provide an unstructured space for brainstorming, collaboration, and iteration without impacting the production workflow. Test pads enable you to keep all workflow-related drafts in one place, reducing the need for external tools and minimizing friction in the design process. Once the steps have been tested, they can easily be moved from the test pad to the main workflow canvas.

How to use

Add a test pad

  1. Open the workflow canvas: Go to Build > Workflows and select the relevant workflow.

  2. Add a test pad: Click Test Pad > Create test pad to add a test pad to the workflow canvas.

  3. Configure the test pad: Enter a meaningful name for the test pad and reposition it where appropriate on the canvas, similar to an annotation.

  4. Add steps: Drag and drop steps to the test pad, or click the + connector in the test pad to use the inline workflow builder. Configure the step parameters as you would production steps.

  5. Test steps: Click Run test pad to execute the steps and review the overall flow. Open any step's Execution Log to see the output.

Delete a test pad

  1. Open the workflow canvas: Go to Build > Workflows and select the relevant workflow with the test pad you want to delete.

  2. Delete the test pad: Navigate to the test pad and click Delete test pad to remove it from the workflow canvas.
