Workspace Timeout Settings

Configure inactivity timeout and session expiration settings for enhanced Workspace security in Torq.

Updated over a week ago

Manage your workspace’s inactivity timeout and session expiration settings directly from the Security tab in the Settings page. Enforce stricter session control, ensuring that users are automatically logged out of Torq after a defined period of inactivity and that they reauthorize their login periodically.

You must be a Workspace Owner to edit the advanced settings.

Changes to the advanced settings are reflected in the Workspace Audit Logs.

Inactivity Timeout

Automatically log out individual users after they have been inactive within Torq for the defined time, improving security by limiting unauthorized access if a user forgets to log out.

When the inactivity timeout length is reached, the user will receive a warning message asking them to choose between remaining logged in or agreeing to log out. If no action is taken after two minutes, they will be logged out, and all in-progress work will be auto-saved.

The default setting for the inactivity timeout is 12 hours.

Set the Workspace Inactivity Timeout

  • Go to Settings > Security > Advanced.

  • Under Inactivity Timeout, set the desired time period from the dropdown menu:

    • 30 minutes

    • 1 hour

    • 4 hours

    • 8 hours

    • 12 hours

    • 24 hours

  • Click Save.

Session Expiration

Define how long a user will remain logged in to your Workspace, even if the user is active within Torq.

For example, setting the session expiration period to 8 hours will require a user to reauthorize their login every 8 hours, even if they are actively working within the Workspace when the time period ends. All in-progress work will be auto-saved.

The default setting for session expiration is Never.

Set the Workspace Session Expiration

  • Go to Settings > Security > Advanced.

  • Under Session Expiration, pick the desired duration from the dropdown menu:

    • Never

    • 8 hours

    • 12 hours

    • 24 hours

    • 7 days

    • 30 days

  • Click Save.
