Manage your workspace’s inactivity timeout and session expiration settings directly from the Security tab in the Settings page. Enforce stricter session control, ensuring that users are automatically logged out of Torq after a defined period of inactivity and that they reauthorize their login periodically.
Changes to the advanced settings are reflected in the workspace Audit Logs.
Prerequisites
Owner permissions required: Only users with the Workspace Owner role can modify these settings.
How to use
Inactivity timeout
The inactivity timeout automatically logs users out after a defined period of inactivity in Torq. This helps protect the workspace if a user leaves their session unattended.
When the inactivity period is reached, users receive a warning prompting them to either remain logged in or log out. If no action is taken within two minutes, the user is automatically logged out and any in-progress work is saved.
Open settings: Navigate to Settings > Security > Advanced.
Select timeout: Under Inactivity Timeout, choose a duration from the dropdown:
30 minutes
1 hour
4 hours
8 hours
12 hours (default)
24 hours
Save changes: Click Save.
Session expiration
Session expiration determines how long a user can remain logged in to a workspace, even if they are actively using Torq. After the defined time period, users must reauthenticate.
For example, if the expiration period is set to 8 hours, users must log in again after eight hours even if they are actively working. Any unsaved work is automatically saved before the session expires.
Open settings: Navigate to Settings > Security > Advanced.
Select expiration period: Under Session Expiration, choose a duration:
Never (default)
8 hours
12 hours
24 hours
7 days
30 days
Save changes: Click Save.
