Automate Task Assignment to Cases: Interact with Assignees

Learn how to automate interactions with assignees by assigning tasks directly to cases.

Overview

Assign tasks within Torq to standardize investigations and improve team efficiency. Automatically assign tasks to cases in a workflow to prompt analyst action. Interact steps prompt the user to acknowledge a message or provide case information.

Track pending tasks in the case view and case timeline. Learn how to track and complete assigned tasks.

How to use

Set up a task

  1. Add the Interaction operator: Insert the Interaction operator into the workflow.

  2. Open Interaction Flow Settings: Select the Interaction operator, then click Flow Settings.

  3. Enable case-based access: Scroll down in Interaction Flow Settings. Under In-product access, select Case (user input task).

Note: Where Interact triggers and Interaction steps continue an existing Interaction Flow, the Case (user input task) option is replaced by Expose in all cases. Select this option to allow the workflow to run manually from Cases. When triggered from a case, the case ID is detected automatically.

  4. Provide the case ID: Enter the case ID.

  5. (Optional) Allow task cancellation: Select Allow end-users to cancel tasks and stop the related workflow execution.

  6. Save the configuration: Click Save. When multiple tasks are assigned at the same time, the assignment order isn’t guaranteed.

Cancel a task

Enable Allow end-users to cancel tasks and stop the related workflow execution in the Interaction Flow Settings to allow analysts to cancel (“delete”) pending tasks and restart case handling from scratch if needed. Canceling a pending task stops the related workflow execution. Restarting the task creates a new workflow execution.
